Successful Sea Trial for NGC Lifting Gearbox on Ocean Platform

Complete success was achieved recently in sea trials and 90cm full-distance lifting test for the platform lifting gearbox manufactured by NGC Gears Group subsidiary Nanjing High Accurate Marine Equipment to be matched with 90m self-elevating platforms 鈥淒e-sail No.2 DSME1202鈥 and 鈥淒e-sail No.3 DSME1203鈥 supplied by Tianjing De-sail Machinery Equipment. The platform lifting gearbox was successfully delivered in Qingdao and Huludao. DSME1202 and DSME1203 living platforms are supported by four column-shaped spud legs. Every spud leg was supported and lifted by 7 pairs of 14 lifting gearboxes. This platform marks the first self-elevating platform with complete intellectual property rights and dynamic positioning function in China, achieving internationally advanced levels.

This 90m marine self-elevating platform is a self-elevating navigational aid platform applied to offshore oilfields. It can provide offshore workover rigs and ocean engineering construction service, and is equipped with functional areas such as living quarters. The platform is a square ship body, and the total length of the four spud legs is approximately 90m. The total length of the ship body is 78.8m, with molded length of 63.6m. Molded width is 40m and molded depth is 5.80m.

Nanjing High Accurate Marine participated in manufacturing the lifting gearbox in this project through reliance on its rich experience in designing and manufacturing major marine propulsion gearboxes and engineering ships transmission gearboxes, and completed the scheme design after communicating with ship owners and contractors. The design scheme fully considers the strength, weight, and installation of the lifting gearbox. In accordance with the multiple working conditions the equipment will face, the accurate service life and strength of the lifting gearboxes were designed using the power load spectrum, so as to guarantee the lightest possible weight of the gearbox while also ensuring strength. In addition, the gearbox further uses high-strength carburized and hardened gears and low-alloy and high-strength cast steel, providing the characteristics of high strength and light weight. Safety and weight requirements of the equipment are also entirely guaranteed.

When testing the full-distance lifting performance of the lifting system, whether to quickly lift the spud legs or to lift the high-strength and heavy-load platform and pre-ballast, the lifting units of the self-elevating platforms 鈥淒e-sail No.2 DSME1202鈥 and 鈥淒e-sail No.3 DSME1203鈥 performed well and exhibited high stability, thus receiving excellent appraisals from ship owners.

The success of the sea trial of the ocean platform and the full-distance lifting test of the lifting system marks a substantive breakthrough in major strategic fields for Nanjing High Accurate Marine makes in the marine engineering equipment industry, giving it a firm footing, and accumulating large amounts of technology and experience. We also package and manufacture the power positioning actuator of the platform, including tunnel thrusting and azimuth thrusting systems, which shows that we have the ability to completely package the transmission system of the self-elevating lifting platform with self-propulsion function and provide more excellent and reliable complete sets of services within the marine engineering equipment industry.
